HUMIDIFIER

In winter, just the simple act of turning up the thermostat, starts a chain of events that result in too little humidity and can bring near disastrous results.  That's because warm, dry air acts like a giant sponge that soaks up moisture from everything it touches.  As with filtration, humidity control is an important element of indoor air quality.

Here are some of the effects caused by dry air:

 * Dry skin

* Woodwork and furniture shrinkage

* Chapped lips

* Hardwood floor separation

* Clogged sinuses

* Piano goes out of tune

* Itchy skin

* Wallpaper peels at the edges

* Dry throat coughs

* Drawers loosen

* Cracked nasal membranes

* Moldings gap

* Increased risk of bacteria infection

* Collectibles shrink, warp and crack

* Aggravated asthma & allergy symptoms

* Static Electricity increases

.

Bypass - the most basic of the humidifiers, this unit utilizes the warm air ducted from the heating system as it passes through a saturated filter pad, allowing the water to evaporate into the air stream. The installation cost and upkeep on this product is very low, and will typically satisfy mild humidity loss issues. This unit can be operated independent from the heating system, but evaporation will likely be extremely low using ambient air.

Power Fan - similar to the "bypass" this unit also uses warm air from the heating system to evaporate water. However, there is no additional ducting involved. It includes a powered fan to circulate dry heated air across the saturated filter pad. The installation cost is slightly higher than that of the "bypass" type, due to the cost of the fan and additional electrical connections. The upkeep is approximately equal to the "bypass".

Proper maintenance is required to keep any humidifier functioning well. Our technicians can provide total maintenance and filter pad replacements upon request.
